Reputable reports in South America suggest Liverpool are pressing to close a deal for Brighton attacking midfielder Alexis Mac Allister after ‘submitted a contract proposal’ for the World Cup winner. The Reds are believed to be in talks with the player’s entourage in a bid to beat a host of rival suitors to the Argentine’s signature following another eye-catching campaign in the Premier League with the Seagulls.
Mac Allister put his name up in lights at the World Cup in Qatar where he starred in Argentina’s midfield on their way to glory in Doha.
Now Liverpool are attempting to beat the rush for Mac Allister despite the fact they are yet to open talks with Brighton over a summer transfer.
TyC Sports reporter Cesar Luis Merlo suggests the Reds are advancing ‘more and more’ to close a deal with a contract proposal currently under analysis by Mac Allister’s father Carlos, who is operating as the midfielder’s agent.
The report claims Liverpool are offering a contract until the summer of June 2028 – showcasing their commitment to signing the 24-year-old.

Carlos Mac Allister revealed last month that the phone is starting but he insisted his son remains committed to ensuring Brighton finish their impressive campaign in style.
He told ESPN: “Clubs are starting to call us for Alexis but there are no concrete talks now. We’ll decide together with Brighton, they deserve respect. We will pick the best project, based on the coach too — it’s not about money.”
Chelsea, Manchester United, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus have all been credited with interest since the World Cup but Liverpool are believed to be leading the charge.
Liverpool ideally want at least two midfielders in the summer transfer window with James Milner (Brighton bound), Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all on course to depart on free transfers.

Loanee Arthur Melo will also be returning to Juventus following a miserable spell at Anfield that was wrecked by a thigh injury.
Mac Allister is one of Liverpool’s top targets but there is also additional interest in Mason Mount and Ryan Gravenberch.
Both alternative targets are thought to be open to the idea of leaving their current clubs – Chelsea and Bayern Munich – at the end of the season.
Mount is out of contract in June 2024 meaning Chelsea could be forced to cash-in on the England international if he continues to stall on signing a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile, Holland international Gravenberch has had a tough time at Bayern since joining from Ajax last summer having struggled for minutes in the Bundesliga.
Liverpool have already held talks with the 20-year-old representatives in Amsterdam in hope that an agreement can be struck.
Bayern, however, are determined to keep Gravenberch as they believe he could be an important player for the future despite his lack of opportunities this season.
Other players including Sporting’s Manuel Ugarte and Wolves’ Matheus Nunes also continue to be linked with the Reds.
