Liverpool’s medical team are confident Naby Keita has not suffered any serious damage after being stretchered off in Liverpool’s 5-0 demolition of Manchester United. The all-action midfielder was on the receiving end of a horror two-footed challenge from Paul Pogba, whose studs met the top of Keita’s shin before leaving him in a heap on the deck.
The former RB Leipzig man was enjoying arguably the finest game of his Liverpool career to date as Liverpool ran riot in the first half at Old Trafford.
His energy and desire to press high helped crank up the pressure on the hosts, who were 4-0 down at the break.
Keita opened the scoring when he finished past David de Gea coolly after just four minutes before he teed up the unstoppable Mohamed Salah for the third goal.
But the 26-year-old’s afternoon ended on a sour note when he left the field with the assistance of Liverpool’s medical team as Jurgen Klopp shook his head in dismay.

Pogba received a red card for the challenge following a VAR check as Anthony Taylor wiped the initial yellow that was dished out to the Frenchman.
Thankfully for Liverpool, it appears the damage to their central midfielder is not as bad as first feared…
According to The Athletic, Keita was able to stand in the dressing room after the game and Liverpool expect the bruising to Keita’s shin to heal in the near future.
He did not even leave Old Trafford on crutches which was a huge positive for the Reds after what looked like a serious injury.

Pogba’s studs appeared to bounce off Keita’s shin and his leg did not twist or buckle following the impact, in a major let-off.
Speaking after the game, Klopp revealed his concern before praising Keita’s explosive performance.
“With Naby Keita, we have to see how serious it is,” Klopp said in his press conference.
“It’s very painful but we’ll see. We’ll only know tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

“Naby is in a great moment. He’s an outstanding player.”
James Milner might not be so lucky though after picking up another hamstring injury.
The veteran, who has been a regular starter of late due to other absentees, was forced off after over-stretching to intercept a ball in the first half.
Milner is expected to miss a number of weeks of action while there is hope Thiago Alcantara is now edging closer to his return following a calf problem.
