Liverpool legend John Aldridge believes Jurgen Klopp needs to make three major additions to the spine of his team this summer. Liverpool secured a third-placed finish on Sunday with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Anfield. The Reds overcame their injury crisis in defence to seal a Champions League qualification spot.
Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are all set to return from their respective injuries this summer.
However, Aldridge believes signing a new centre-back is a necessity for Klopp.
RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate is heavily linked with a move to the club.
Aldridge would also like to see a new midfielder signed, with Georginio Wijnaldum playing his final game for the Reds on Sunday.

A striker is the third signing Aldridge is hoping Klopp brings in in the next window.
“They have to buy a centre-half of high quality,” Aldridge told Sky Sports.
“And for me, up front, we’ve got some fantastic, four strikers, including [Diogo] Jota who’s magnificent.
“But I think it needs freshening up, maybe [Divock] Origi needs to leave, he needs game time as does [Xherdan] Shaqiri I’m sure.

“So they’ll be some toing and froing I’m pretty sure but it’s the spine of the team for me.
“Whether the owners have the money after what’s happened the last 12 months is another question mark.
“But certainly I do think we need a top striker, a top centre-half and a top midfield player. And they don’t come cheap.”
Mohamed Salah was Liverpool’s top scorer in the Premier League this season, finishing one goal behind Tottenham’s Harry Kane in the race for the Golden Boot.
However, former Reds goalkeeper David James believes Klopp’s side are better without Salah and reckons they should sell the Egyptian if they can.
James told Stadium Astro: “I think Jurgen Klopp and the way that he’s developed this side, Salah has become more of a focal point than that front three we were talking about from seasons before.
“I think Liverpool’s fluidity is compromised by Salah, even though he scores.
“Because Liverpool have got such a great side, they can give the ball to someone to score. Tottenham is another one.
“We were talking before, top goalscorers tend to not win leagues.
“So I think they could cash in on him and produce a stronger team.”
