Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha scored one of the worst own goals ever after a seemingly safe catch turned into disaster against Galatasaray in the Europa League.
The 26-year-old, a veteran of over 175 appearances for the Serie A side, was having a solid if unspectacular evening when catastrophe struck midway through the second-half.
With no danger around whatsoever, Strakosha's team-mate Manuel Lazzari failed to clear a routine cross, slicing the ball high into the air, just underneath the crossbar.
It wasn't an ideal interception by any means, but it was one that most stoppers would back themselves to deal with 99 times out of 100.
Unfortunately for Strakosha, this wasn't one of those 99 times.
The Greek-born Albanian ace attempted to catch the ball as it dropped just underneath the crossbar but failed miserably, instead palming it off the post, onto his hands and into the back of the net.

Strakosha buried his head in his hands as he realised the magnitude of his error which gifted Galatasaray the lead in the contest.
Fans on Twitter, however, were much less forgiving.
One wrote: "What the hell is the lazio goalkeeper doing on that goal lmaoooooo."
Someone else said: "I seen this kind of mistakes in the amateur matches…This is huge mistake by goalkeeper of #Lazio. He is finished!"

Another person added: "oh dear.. terrible mistake by the Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha. True definition of a howler. Galatasaray up 1-0 at the moment."
A fourth Twitter user commented: "The Lazio keeper has gone full Jordan Pickford and put the ball in his own net Quality own goal."
"The most ridiculous own goal I've ever seen," was the view of different supporter.
Strakosha's error proved decisive as Galatasaray won the match 1-0 to further compound the goalkeeper's pain.
Unsurprisingly, it was the 6ft 4in stopper's first game of the season.
On this evidence, it might be his last.
