Kieran Trippier has told his England teammates that he is interested in securing a move to Manchester United this summer. The 30-year-old right-back won La Liga with Atletico Madrid this season, claiming the first piece of silverware in his career to date.
Trippier has proved many people wrong since leaving Tottenham Hotspur two years ago by becoming an influential figure in Diego Simeone’s side.
But despite his success in the Spanish capital, recent reports have linked the England international with a move to Old Trafford.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is aiming to provide competition for starting right-back Aaron Wan Bissaka as United look to bounce back from a disappointing campaign.
According to a report by the Mirror, Trippier is believed to be open to a return to the English top-flight and has declared his intentions while away on international duty with the Three Lions.

It is likely to cost the Red Devils £15million to secure the services of the former Spurs defender, who triggered a one-year contract extension due to appearances made in Atletico’s title-winning campaign.
Speaking after the club’s La Liga success, Trippier spoke of how happy he is in Spain as he praised the impact Simeone has had on his career.
“It is an unbelievable feeling and I am still pinching myself,” he said.
“That is one of the reasons why I went there, to try and win titles and most importantly to get my performances back on track from when I was at Tottenham.

“I feel like I made a big step when I first went there and have improved defensively and in attack. I am loving it. I am enjoying it and delighted to be back with England.
“For me personally, it has been a great experience, a different culture, working with Simeone.
“I am absolutely delighted to have won the league title. There is no better coach to improve than Simeone.”
Trippier hails from Greater Manchester, however, and the opportunity to join Solskjaer’s squad will present him with the chance to move home.
The United boss is certainly keen on making additions to the team this summer, having recently discussed his view on the upcoming transfer window.
“We are second best, but too far behind to threaten those who won. Then we have to strengthen ourselves,” Solskjaer told Norwegian outlet TV.
“Of course, something will happen in the transition window. The world has become very different than 15-16 months ago, but we have to make some moves on the transfer window, but also with the team.
“It is never possible to sit back. You are constantly looking for reinforcements. Football is dynamic, so unexpected things can happen such as injuries, illness, something familiar or that someone wants to move.”
