Khabib and Clarence Seedorf to launch academy that ‘fuses football and MMA’

Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and four-time Champions League winner Clarence Seedorf have teamed up to launch a new academy that 'fuses together football and MMA'.

The duo met back in 2020 and instantly became friends after mutual respect for what each had achieved in their individual sport.

SK Sport Holdings was formed on the back of several discussions between the pair on how they could give something back and serve the younger generations.

Based in Dubai the Seedorf Khabib Performance Club was unveiled this week but Seedorf remained adamant that this club is the first of many to come.

He said: “We have the same mission in life. We want to give something back to the young generations. This is not a Dubai project; this is a global project.”

“We are going to bring in the knowledge, the coaches and methodology, monitoring and supporting from a marketing point of view to support the growth of each venue and each partnership.”

Since his retirement in 2014 Seedorf has created and overseen several social development projects with football schools and community leagues established across the globe.

Written in football history as the only player to have won the Champions League with three different clubs, the 45-year-old also acts as an advisor for club owners and academies.

Seedorf's new business partner Khabib retired from the UFC in 2020 when he promised his mother he would no longer continue fighting after the passing of his late father.

An undefeated champion he most famous defeated Conor McGregor at UFC 229 on his first successful defence of the lightweight title.

Khabib believes the pair know what it takes to create the next generation of winners.
