Juventus 'are plotting to lure Jorginho AND Paul Pogba to Serie A

Juventus ‘are plotting to lure Jorginho AND Paul Pogba to Serie A this summer with club chiefs arriving in London for talks with Chelsea’… while the Manchester United midfielder prepares to leave on a free transfer

  • Juventus are reportedly targeting a double raid on two big Premier League sides
  • The Italian giants are keen on Chelsea’s Jorginho and Man United’s Paul Pogba
  • Club chiefs have even jetted into London for talks with the Blues, reports claim

Juventus are preparing a double Premier League raid as they line up a swoop for Chelsea’s Jorginho and Manchester United star Paul Pogba, reports claim.

The Serie A giants are looking to revamp their side after another disappointing campaign that saw them miss out on the Scudetto for the second straight season, with Max Allegri’s team settling for a place in the top four.

With the Old Lady now hoping to return to the summit of Italian football – and Europe’s elite – the club are targeting two new midfielders and see Jorginho and Pogba as the men to lead their new revolution, according to Gazetta dello Sport.

Juventus boss Max Allegri is looking to bolster his side to take them back to Europe’s elite

Italian star Jorginho, who starred for the Azzurri in their road to winning Euro 2020 last summer, is the club’s priority, the report claims.

Juventus sporting director Federico Cherubini has already flown in to London to begin talks with Chelsea over the central midfielder’s signature, it says, after forming a positive relationship with the player and his team in recent months.

Jorginho’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires next summer, but Juventus have had problems discussing a move because Chelsea have been unable to buy or sell players while owner Roman Abramovich has been sanctioned by the Government over his involvement with Russian president Vladimir Putin.

Jorginho’s contract expires next summer and the Blues could be tempted to cash in on him

Now that the club’s sale to US billionaire Todd Boehly is set to go through, a window may now be opening for Juventus to make their move. The club may be tempted to receive a fee for him now rather than lose him for nothing next year.

Jorginho will be seen as a club great by many fans, having helped them win the Champions League, Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup. He’s played 187 times for the Blues, scoring 26 times – supplying a regular amount of goals from the penalty spot.

Juventus are hopeful they can land both Jorginho and Pogba – who will be much easier to land given his contract at Manchester United expires this summer.

Turin is where Pogba announced himself on the world stage and he would be comfortable returning to a club he knows well, and club chiefs have already started talks with the player and his agent that have ‘begun positively’.

Paul Pogba will leave Man United on a free transfer this season but Juventus face competition from PSG for his signature

However, the club still have a ‘significant economic difference’ on salary with the French international, with PSG also battling them for his signature. The French outfit are ready to hand him £10million per season on a three year deal, which could be tempting for him to return to his home country.

Pogba – who is currently recovering from a season-ending injury – has struggled justify the £90m price tag he cost Man United when they brought him back from Turin in 2016, with the World Cup winner enduring stern criticism from fans and pundits after six years at OId Trafford.

He’s played 216 times for the Red Devils in his second stint, scoring 39 times. His only trophies were the EFL Cup in 2016-17 and the Europa League the same season.

At Juventus, however, he was a sensation – helping to win four Serie A titles in four seasons as he scored 34 times in 178 games, racking up 40 assists.
