Jose Mourinho savagely mocked by England fans after Luke Shaw masterclass

Luke Shaw produced a sensational display in England's 4-0 thrashing of Ukraine on Saturday night – and fans couldn't help but poke fun at Jose Mourinho on social media.

Shaw played a key part in one of the best England performances at a major tournament in recent memory, which got off to a flyer when Harry Kane raced onto a pass from Raheem Sterling and slotted home after four minutes.

Harry Maguire then doubled their lead by powering home a header from Shaw's terrific cross one minute into the second half.

Four minutes later Kane added his second of the game with a header of his own from another pinpoint Shaw cross.

And Jordan Henderson sealed the rout by coming off the bench and scoring the Three Lions' third header of the game before celebrating wildly.

It was a superb performance from England and in particular from Shaw, who defied Mourinho's previous criticism by putting on a masterclass at the Stadio Olimpico – the Portuguese gaffer's new home after he was appointed Roma boss.

Mourinho has scrutinised Shaw, his former player at Manchester United, on a number of occasions in the past, branding his delivery "dramatically bad" after their recent win over Czech Republic.

And fans were quick to poke fun at the Special One after his sublime display against Ukraine in Rome.

One wrote on Twitter: "Luke Shaw masterclass in Jose Mourinho's back yard…"

Another put: "Luke Shaw absolutely bossing it for England in such a big game on Mourinho’s new turf. You love to see it".

A third said: "Just a reminder that Jose Mourinho said Luke Shaw’s set piece delivery was poor. Tonight he assisted Harry Maguire from a set piece."

Another commented: "Luke Shaw dominating at the stadium of Jose Mourinho’s new club was written in the stars. It was bound to happen."

A fifth said: "There’s something beautifully poetic in Luke Shaw dominating at the stadium of Jose Mourinho’s new club".

To rub salt in the wounds for Mourinho, former employers United then chipped in and waxed lyrical about the defender by writing: "This is also a @LukeShaw23 appreciation post #MUFC #ENG".
