Jordan Henderson has launched a fierce defence of Thiago Alcantara following some criticism of the midfielder's displays since joining Liverpool.
Thiago joined the Reds from Bayern Munich in September in a £27m deal and massive things were expected of the player.
After struggling with injuries at the start of his spell at Anfield he has become a regular member of the first-team since the turn of the year.
But some have suggested Thiago does not suit Liverpool's style of play, and has been a key factor behind their dreadful recent form.
Speaking ahead of his side's Champions League last-16 tie against RB Leipzig, however, Henderson hit back at critics of the Spaniard, insisting he has already proven himself to be a good signing.
"Thiago has been brilliant since he came to the club," he said.
“I think everybody knows how good a player he is. He's a world-class player and he's been great to have around.
“Even off the field, he's a really good person, leads by example, gives everything and you can learn a lot from him. I think he's been a fantastic addition to the squad.
“He'll probably know Leipzig better than anyone, so I'm sure he'll be telling us one or two things to help with that. But he's settled in very well, like I knew he would.
“He's a phenomenal player and hopefully he can just keep improving each time he plays for us and getting used to the way we play as a team.”
Liverpool are looking to end a run of three straight defeats when they take on Leipzig in Budapest on Tuesday.
And things do not get any easier after that as they face a Merseyside Derby with bitter rivals Everton on Saturday evening looking to ensure they do not slip further behind in the race for a top four spot.
