Ivan Perisic ‘agrees Chelsea terms’ and looks set for free transfer from Inter

Ivan Perisic has reportedly agreed terms to join Chelsea on a free transfer from Inter Milan this summer.

The Croatian winger is out of contract at the end of the season and is unlikely to agree a new deal with the current Serie A champions. The 33-year-old is said to be demanding a three-year contract earning just under £100,000-per-week, but Inter are only willing to offer him £65,000-per-week.

Perisic has been left frustrated by the lack of progress regarding his demands, leading him to explore other options. And Italian outlet Sport Mediaset claim via FCInter1908 that only a medical and the final formalities of the agreement are left to complete his move to Chelsea.

Journalist Sandro Sabatini said: “There is a rumour in the last few hours: Perisic has a practically already formalised agreement with Chelsea.

“Consequently, the possibility for Inter to increase the contract offer, which is currently €4.5 million for two years, would vanish.

“Perisic has already reached an agreement with Chelsea: the medical examinations and the last formalities to ratify the agreement are missing, but if the Croatian does not go to Chelsea we could be seeing a sensational twist.”

Perisic has been an influential part of Inter’s quest for the title this season, with seven goals and six assists in Serie A so far. He scored twice in the Coppa Italia final win against Juventus on Wednesday, but criticised the club after the game.

When asked about his contract situation, Perisic said: “I don’t know anything yet. With important players, you don’t wait until the last minute. You ought to know that too.’

He still has the opportunity to win consecutive Scudettos before his increasingly-likely departure. Inter are just two points behind rivals AC Milan with two games left in the season.
