Howard Webb has spoken about his split from his wife, which happened after an impromptu dinner date with fellow referee Bibi Steinhaus in Germany.
Webb and Steinhaus are were wed earlier this year, but it would have never happened if it wasn't for one major coincidence.
While on an eight-hour stop in Frankfurt, Webb popped the dinner date question to Steinhaus.
As luck would have it Steinhaus – who lives in Hannover, three-and-a-half hours away – was in Frankfurt to officiate a game.
Not long after their initial dinner date, the Yorkshireman moved out to Germany to live with Steinhaus.
"To be fair, I would not have made the effort going all the way from Hannover to Frankfurt, which is three and a half hours, to meet you for dinner," Steinhaus recalled to Futbol with Grant Wahl.
"Today I would say, 'What a chance!' But I have to say, six years ago I would probably not have thought about that.
"Anyway, it ended up that I had a match on Sunday in Frankfurt, totally by chance.
"And I said, 'Seven o'clock is fine. I have final whistle at five. I can make that, no problem'."
Steinhaus was told by Fortuna Dusseldorf's Kerem Demirbal, after receiving a red card, told her that 'women don't belong in men's football', but Steinhaus hasn't let it sour the memories.

On his marriage he left behind in England, Webb explained: "Our relationship had changed, but we're still fine now, and it's okay.
"The kids are fine. But like any breakup, it's painful. [His relationship with Steinhaus] didn't come out in the media [for a year], but Bibi and I weren't hiding it."
