Antonio Conte has been urged to sacrifice Harry Kane in order to bring Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku to Tottenham by his former team-mate, Fabrizio Ravinelli.

Lukaku only returned to the Premier League a few months ago after Chelsea shelled out a club-record £97.5million to prise the Belgian striker away from Conte’s former club, Inter Milan.

But Lukaku sent shockwaves through Stamford Bridge this week – revealing that he was unhappy at the club in an explosive interview with Sky Sport Italia.

The 28-year-old was subsequently dropped by Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel for Sunday’s pulsating 2-2 draw with Liverpool, with his long-term future currently unclear.

And Ravinelli, who had spells in the Premier League himself with Middlesborough and Derby County, believes that Conte could look to take advantage of the current uncertainty surrounding Lukaku by seeking a potential reunion in north London.

Conte and Lukaku were pivotal figures during Inter’s stunning Scudetto win before they both departed the San Siro in the summer.

“I see him [Lukaku] join Tottenham, I think Antonio will do everything to sign him,” Ravanelli told Sky Sport Italia, as quoted by Football Italia.

“Perhaps, Harry Kane could leave, Lukaku knows Conte’s system really well and I think there’s a chance to see Lukaku and Conte reunite in North London.”

Although speculation over Kane’s future has died down in recent months, the England captain also went public with his unhappiness just before Euro 2020 last summer.

Kane was reportedly enthused by the appointment of Conte after Nuno Espirito Santo was axed by Spurs chief Daniel Levy earlier this term, but it remains to be seen if the Italian’s presence alone is enough to persuade Tottenham’s talisman that his future lies in north London beyond this season.

But even if Conte is keen on reuniting with Lukaku, and Kane is still adamant that he wants a move away from Tottenham, any deal would still be a long way off.

Traditionally, Chelsea and Tottenham don’t do business together – and it’s unlikely that stance would change taking into account the stature of the two player’s in question at their respective clubs.

But that hasn’t stopped speculation following Conte and Lukaku’s close relationship from their brief stint in Italy together.

Despite dropping him from the squad, Tuchel insisted that Lukaku still had a future at Stamford Bridge following Sunday’s all-action encounter with title rivals Liverpool.

“He is our player, there is always a way back,” Tuchel told Sky Sports.

“We will clear this behind closed doors and once we have made a decision and Romelu knows, you will maybe know also. It is not to be discussed now.”
