Erling Haaland has revealed the remarkable extent to which he is consumed and obsessed with winning the Champions League.

The Borussia Dortmund striker, still just 20, averages a goal every 56 minutes in the competition and dreams of one day lifting the trophy.

He is so fixated on lifting Europe’s top club prize that every morning he wakes up to the sound of the iconic Champions League anthem.

Erling Haaland dreams of winning the Champions League and the music inspires him

The Borussia Dortmund striker has dreamed of getting his hands on the trophy

‘I have been having that for a couple of years now’, he told the Telegraph. You know, it’s a very good anthem.’

Haaaland went on to reveal how excited he was prior to making his debut in the competition with Red Bull Salzburg, and spoke about his desire to win it: ‘The week before, the day before, it was all I was thinking about – to walk out and make my debut in the Champions League with the music. It is a memory that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

Haaland even played the Champions League music in his car en route to the final training session before facing Genk back in 2019.

‘I have been thinking about the Champions League my whole life, wanting to play there. So maybe it gives me one per cent extra motivation when I go out on the pitch with the anthem,’ he went on.

‘That’s my big dream. To win the Champions League one day. Hopefully I can lift that trophy and that really would be, well, amazing.’

The powerful forward seems destined to achieve his ambitions at the current rate of progress. He scored 20 Champions League goals in his first 14 games.

The astonishing output has put him on the radar of Europe’s top clubs with Manchester United and City both thought to be leading contenders for the Norwegian’s signature along with Chelsea, who are understood to be leading the charge.

Sportsmail previously reported that the Blues have opened talks over a potential £170million move for the striker.

Haaland (pictured with Jude Bellingham) has thrived at Dortmund with 44 goals last term

Last season, Haaland scored 44 goals in 40 games and whichever club manages to strike a deal with Dortmund will bag themselves a guaranteed goalscorer for years to come.

‘My career has already been going very fast, but also at a speed that I like, he added. ‘It’s true that I am young, but I am setting myself goals all the time and I will do everything I can to achieve them.’

Haaland has recently been pictured partying on a yacht in Mykonos with a group of bikini-clad women and his Norway side failed to reach the Euros.

He is unwinding during the off-season before reigniting his ambitions next season. Where that might be, remains to be seen.
