Arsenal are said to be keen on signing Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic during the January transfer window – but could face a hurdle despite their willingness to spend big.
The Gunners are on the lookout for long-term replacements for snubbed former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as well as out-of-contract forward Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette.
That has led to interest in Serbia international Vlahovic, who has scored 47 goals in 104 games in Italy since leaving Partizan as a teenager back in 2017.
Although Arsenal are not the only club to be linked to the 21-year-old, the desire of technical director Edu to get a deal over the line will only work in their favour.
Football.london report that Edu is doing 'everything possible' to get a deal over the line before the end of the month, despite Vlahovic's desire to stay in Italy.
It is added that he would be more keen on a move to either Inter Milan or Juventus than one to join a Premier League side, with his contract set to expire in 2023.
A fee in the region of £60million is said to be 'no issue to Arsenal', meaning the desire of the player and his representatives could prove the biggest stumbling block.

Mikel Arteta said of their January transfer plans back in December: "If you can tweak what you need to in that period, which is not easy, it would be really helpful.
“We are working on that to see the necessities we can have and whether we can find the right solutions."
Aubameyang tested positive for Covid-19 on the eve of AFCON 2021, having been stripped of the armband at Arsenal for a breach of discipline.
With both Nketiah and Lacazette set to play larger roles for the rest of the season, Arsenal will not be keen to leave the future of their front line until the summer.
