Dier ‘lost the plot’ – Spurs star goes berserk in stands after fan swears at him

A Tottenham supporter has described the moment when Eric Dier ran into the crowd to confront a fan after his side were defeated on penalties by Norwich in the FA Cup.

Shortly after Gedson Fernandes' missed spot-kick sealed Spurs' fate Dier jumped over a barrier and raced up the stands, with footage showing a supporter getting involved in a spat with his brother, Patrick

The England international was seen angrily shouting towards someone in the crowd while as many as 10 members of the public held him back.

A man wearing a black jacket seemed to gesture at him and taunt him by waving and displaying his middle finger.

The man darts away and exits, and Dier is left stating "that's my brother" as he attempted to keep hold of his sibling who is being restrained by stewards.

Jose Mourinho said after the game that the row started after Patrick took umbrage to abusive slurs which were hurled in Dier's direction by the supporter during the game.

Spurs fan Neil spoke to talkSPORT after witnessing it first-hand.

He said: "There were two guys who were fighting after the match, they were in the crowd pushing and trying to fight, and, I don’t know, but it looked like it could have been his brother – that’s what Mourinho said.

"But then Eric Dier lost the plot, and the next thing you know he is bounding up the stairs. There must have been about 20 fans trying to hold him back, he was like the Incredible Hulk.
