David Beckham has spoken at the pride he felt for his Inter Miami team after their MLS debut defeat to LAFC on Sunday night.
Miami, competing in the Eastern Conference, have joined the league for the start of the new campaign with owner Becks calling the shots from board level.
And his men put in an encouraging display at the Banc of California Stadium against opposition that are expected to push for the title once again this season.
In the end the contest was settled by Carlos Vela’s lovely chipped effort for last year’s Western Conference winners.

Beckham’s side, managed by two-time CONCACAF Champions League winner Diego Alonso, showed flashes of promise on the west coast.
And while they have yet to sign any well-known star names, there are rumours that the likes of Manchester City star David Silva could join up when he leaves the Etihad.
LAFC only played their first MLS game in March 2018 but have reached the play-offs in each of their first two seasons in the league.
Inter Miami will face DC United next weekend in their second MLS game, before their first home tie the following week against LA Galaxy.

The franchise has a new 18,000-seater stadium that is sure to be full to the rafters for that game.
Beckham was spotted in the stands in LA with his wife Victoria, with chef Gordon Ramsay also offering his support.
And after the game, Becks took to Instagram to send a message of support to his players and fans.
“Very proud moment for our club today and the team did us proud,” he wrote.
