Former Manchester United assistant coach Carlos Queiroz has quipped that Cristiano Ronaldo ‘will be upset’ if he hears his countryman’s view on Mohamed Salah. Ronaldo and Salah have been two of the best performers in the Premier League this season but Liverpool will be without the Egyptian for the next month.
The Reds forward has travelled to Cameroon to take part in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Salah is currently leading the race for the Premier League golden boot with an impressive 16 goals in 20 appearances.
Ronaldo is well behind with just eight in the top-flight but has contributed a further six in the Champions League.
The legendary forward has been one of few highlights for United since his blockbuster summer return.

A 12-year hiatus brought Ronaldo back to United for the first time since 2009. It was during his first spell that he was coached by Sir Alex Ferguson’s former right-hand man Queiroz.
And the now Egypt coach has risked upsetting the striker but revealing that he thinks Salah is the best player in the world.
He said: “Probably you agree with me that in our team we have the best player on the planet at the moment. If my friend Cristiano Ronaldo listens to this, he will be upset!”
Salah missed out on the first Ballon d’Or of his career despite his incredible form in 2021. The award instead went to Lionel Messi.
Ronaldo has won the gong five times.
He shared an excellent relationship with Queiroz at United and the 68-year-old is credited with playing a large part in the forward’s early development.
Legendary former boss Ferguson wrote in his 2013 autobiography: “Carlos would say to Cristiano all the time: ‘You’re only a great player when people outside the club start recognising you as such’.”
Queiroz is now head coach of the Egyptian national team and will guide Salah and co. into the Africa Cup of Nations.

He has promised fans that the team is there to win.
Queiroz, who was twice assistant at Old Trafford between 2002-03 and 2004-08, explained: “We are not going to AFCON to take a walk, we are going to win…and to do that we need a winning mentality.
“Mohamed Salah has that and he can instil that in the team. He is the best player in the world right now, and with that comes belief and confidence.
“We are a team, not one player. We build a team. But we build it with the best player in the world included, and that brings the right mentality into the team.”
