Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly eager to leave Juventus after Lionel Messi’s shock move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The 36-year-old joined Juventus in 2018 in the hope of winning the Champions League with a third club but has been unsuccessful due to the Bianconeri’s current downward trajectory.

Ronaldo’s long-time rival Messi is set to win the Ballon d’Or ahead of the Portuguese forward this year and his move to the French giants also makes them favourites to win the Champions League.

Italian news outlet La Repubblica claim that Messi’s transfer has had an impact on Ronaldo’s self-esteem with the 2020/21 Serie A top-scorer seeking a departure after three seasons in Italy.

The reports say Ronaldo is growing restless at Juventus with poor body language in friendlies and training sessions.

It is also claimed by the Daily Mail that he is refusing to speak to manager Massimiliano Allegri, further indicating his detachment and indifference towards the Turin side.

Ronaldo was linked with a transfer to PSG himself earlier in the window in a swap deal which would send Mauro Icardo back to Italy.

With increasing rumours surrounding Kylian Mbappe’s transfer to Real Madrid, PSG could be making way for what would be a mythical transfer window if they add Ronaldo to their already spectacular list of signings.

And Juventus are yet to make any recent announcements regarding their hopes of keeping the Euro 2020 Golden Boot winner.

However, Manchester City also appear to be in the race for Ronaldo with the player open to playing for Pep Guardiola.

This comes despite Ronaldo having spent six seasons with rivals Manchester United, where he maintains good relations with the fanbase.

A deal could depend on whether City are successful in their pursuit of Harry Kane, who Tottenham Hotspur are unwilling to let go for less than £160million.

Ronaldo would cost considerably less at £25million as his agent Jorge Mendes is reportedly attempting to mediate a deal with the Premier League champions.
