Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal team-mate Jose Fonte has backed the forward to make a stunning return to Real Madrid. Reports in Italy at the weekend claimed Juventus are struggling financially and were willing to sell Ronaldo for as little as £50m, two years after he left the Bernabeu for Turin.
Ronaldo had an astonishing nine-year spell at Real, where he smashed numerous records on his way to winning four Champions League titles and becoming the club’s all-time leading goalscorer.
Fonte was interviewed by talkSPORT presenter Jim White on Wednesday morning to give his view on a potential return for Ronaldo to Real.
“Do you think he wants to go back there Jose?” White asked.
“Do you think he wants to finish up there?”

Fonte, who has played alongside Ronaldo for Portugal since 2014, says the 35-year-old loves Real and has always left the door open for a return.
“I know he loves Madrid, that’s for sure,” Fonte replied.
“I think it’s clear that he loves Madrid.
“He loves the club itself, obviously it’s, if not the biggest club in the world, it’s one of the biggest.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna believes Ronaldo staying at Juventus could be key in a potential return for Paul Pogba.
Manchester United midfielder Pogba continues to be linked with a move back to the Serie A giants.
“I see more Paul returning to Juventus because Cristiano is there and because Juventus is the club that made him shine,” Sagna told Goal.
“[Pogba] loves [Juventus], he already knows it.
“It will be tricky for [Pogba] to go to Madrid now because Madrid are not doing so well and there will be big expectation on him and the Madrid team is getting old.
“Juve have bought some players like Ramsey and Cristiano. Okay, Cristiano is not young anymore, but he plays like a young boy and they still have a young team.
“If you think about the next two or three years, I think Juve has bigger potential than Madrid.”
