Cristiano Ronaldo has been spotted on Manchester United's training pitch for the first time.

The club shared a shot clip of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, who has returned to Old Trafford 12 years after leaving, in the club's black training gear with red trim.

And the 36-year-old, who has 30 major titles for club and country, is joined by Juan Mata as they make their way to the pitch.

The Portuguese forward's return was announced last month, having won honours at Real Madrid and Juventus.

While his last fixture for his country saw Ronaldo become the highest-scoring international player of all time, overtaking Iran's Ali Daei with 111 goals.

The forward was pictured earlier today in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's office, speaking with his former team-mate and now manager.

The club wrote: "Cristiano met with boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, his former team-mate, in the manager's office before being introduced to the players who are currently hard at work in training.

"The spectacular signing from Juventus joined the session with his colleagues and wasted no time in getting acquainted with the group.

"With challenges to come at home and abroad in the near future, including Saturday's Premier League match against Newcastle and next Tuesday's start of the Champions League at Young Boys, it is hoped the striker will be ready to assist the side and begin to have an immediate impact in his second spell at the club."

Ronaldo spent four years playing with the Norwegian at Old Trafford, scoring 118 goals in nearly 300 appearances.

He left the club in 2009 for a then-world record £80 for Real Madrid, hitting a rate of 1.03 goals per game in 438 appearances.

After nine years, four Champions League honours and four more Ballon d'Ors, he. spent three seasons at Juventus.

Ronaldo won two Serie A titles in Italy but made the quick decision to leave the club this summer.
