Clothing company Boohoo slammed over ‘sexist’ Cristiano Ronaldo tweet

Clothing brand BooHoo have been slammed for a 'sexist' tweet after Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United confirmed they had parted ways.

Ronaldo's exit from United comes just days after his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan. The Portuguese megastar gave the club an astonishing dressing down as he fired shots at everyone from Erik ten Hag to the clubs' hierarchy.

The company tweeted: "No need to watch the football now girlies xxxx." And the tweet quickly gathered backlash from football fans, who slammed the company for sexualising the 37-year-old, before it was swiftly deleted on Tuesday evening.

One responded: "It’s incredibly sexist and gross, and just makes all girls look ridiculous, hope they delete it. The admin should be ashamed!"

"How about dropping an apology for your sexist tweet offending all female football fans, players and females involved in football," a second added. While a third tweeted: "You managed to be both heteronormative and sexist, bravo!"

And a fourth added: "Boohoo saying girls no longer need to watch football because Ronaldo has left Man Utd is EXACTLY what female fans want to eradicate!! We watch football because we ENJOY it…Just like men…Not because a player maybe found to be a bit attractive!"
