Thomas Tuchel suffered his first major setback as Chelsea boss as they lost 1-0 to Leicester City in the FA Cup final.
Since the German was appointed back in January, it has been plain sailing for a side that have seen their fortunes transformed.
However, defeat to the Foxes, twinned with their midweek Premier League defeat to Arsenal have left their season on a knife-edge.
Chelsea face Manchester City in the Champions League final at the end of this month, but their first priority is ensuring a top four finish.
They face Leicester again tonight, knowing that defeat would open the door for Liverpool to usurp them by the end of the season.
The speed bump has exposed some of the limitations in Tuchel’s squad ahead of what could be another hectic transfer window.
Previous boss Frank Lampard was handed more than £200m last summer and reports claim his successor could be given a similarly large warchest.
With that in mind, here’s the last transfer rumours coming out of Stamford Bridge:
Kane contact made
Sky Sports claim that Chelsea are one of three Premier League clubs to officially register their interest in wantaway Tottenham striker Harry Kane.
It has been suggested Kane has reaffirmed his desire to leave at the end of the current campaign, with Spurs already making plans for his departure.
According to the report, Chelsea – along with Manchester United and Manchester City – have made contact with Kane’s representatives.
The 27-year-old’s preference is to stay in the English top-flight and get his future sorted before Euro 2020 starts next month.
Real Madrid are desperate to raise funds this summer after Florentino Perez opened up on their financial difficulties.
Perez was one of the driving forces behind the failed European Super League and claimed without it, they wouldn’t be able to compete at the top of the market.
Raphael Varane is one they could sell, with AS reporting Los Blancos bosses are hoping they get a great deal for the defender.
They claim that Chelsea will fight Manchester United and PSG for the Frenchman, who could cost as much €70m.
Blues pair plot exits
It has been suggested that Roman Abramovich could give Tuchel around £150m to spend this summer, as he looks to put his own stamp on the squad.
But with the likes of Erling Haaland and Romelu Lukaku – who have both been touted as targets – valued at around that, it could be a case of selling before they buy to a certain extent.
And according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmeri have handed the Blues a chance to boost their coffers, with both looking to leave the club at the end of the season.
Alonso has been in and out of the side since Tuchel’s appointment, but did start at Wembley in place of Ben Chilwell.
Emerson has been completely frozen out, having barely made an appearance all season.
The report claims both want to play a bigger role at the club and want to ‘feel important again’.
