Chelsea are keen on Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot this summer, who could be available for as little as £17m in the next transfer window.
The 26-year-old has been an important part of the Juve side this season, making 41 appearances in all competitions, but there is expected to be substantial change in the squad this year and he could move on, thanks largely to his huge salary.
The former Paris Saint-Germain man is on a contract worth around £120,000-a-week and the Turin side would be willing to take just £17m to get him off the wage bill, according to Italian publication CalcioMercato.
The report states that Rabiot’s agent, his mother Veronique, is already in talks with Barcelona over a possible move, so Chelsea will have to battle the Spanish giants for his signature.
Blues boss Thomas Tuchel worked with Rabiot during their time at PSG, so will be hoping his relationship with the midfielder will help tempt him to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are also in a much stronger financial position than debt-ridden Barca, so a more attractive package might be on the table in west London than Catalonia.
Juventus are having a bit of a nightmare season under manager Andrea Pirlo, sitting fourth in Serie A and in danger of missing out on a Champions League place, with AC Milan level on points and one place behind them, while Inter Milan have run away with the title.
With Chelsea in the Champions League semi-final and FA Cup final, looking impressive under Tuchel, they may be a more appealing proposition for the stylish midfielder.
