Chelsea have Camavinga ‘advantage’ and Tuchel wants Lacroix, Bakayoko update

Chelsea have an 'advantage' over Premier League rivals Manchester United in their transfer pursuit of Eduardo Camavinga.

The Blues have emerged this week as an interested party in signing the 18-year-old, despite the Red Devils' long-time pursuit.

But the Stamford Bridge side have a secret weapon they can use in negotiations for the midfielder.

Thomas Tuchel is looking to use the summer transfer window to shore up his defensive options.

And reports have emerged that he has been keeping a 'keen eye' on the Bundesliga at a centre-back.

These two stories, along with an update on Tiemoue Bakayoko, form the focus of Daily Star Sport's Chelsea transfer round-up.

Blues' Camavinga 'advantage'

The Rennes youngster only has 12 months left on his contract, with the Ligue 1 side looking to make £25m from him.

With French outlet Le Parisien [via teamTALK] reporting the Blues' interest on Thursday, the Express have reported they could use one staff member's connections to beat United.

Petr Cech, former goalkeeper as well as current technical and performance adviser, is a 'huge fan' of the midfielder.

While the former Rennes goalkeeper has maintained his connections to the club.

Tuchel eyes up Lacroix

The German boss is a fan of talents from his native country's Bundesliga, still hoping to secure Erling Haaland from former side Borussia Dortmund.

But ESPN journalist Julien Laurens says the 47-year-old has his eyes on Wolfsburg's 21-year-old defender Maxence Lacroix.

He said to MAH YouTube channel: “Tuchel has still managed to watch pretty much every single Bundesliga game since he took over at Chelsea.

“He will have his name [Lacroix] high up on the centre-back list this summer.”

Bakayoko sparking battle

The Frenchman has not played for Chelsea in three years, spending his last season on loan at Napoli.

But Italian outlet TuttoMercato have reported that he is sparking a transfer battle in Serie A.

He had already gained interest from AC Milan, having spent the 2018/19 season on loan at the San Siro.

But Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti has now 'asked' owner Aurelio De Laurentiis to sort a deal.
