Frank Lampard has made signing a centre-back a priority after a particularly lousy year at the back, letting in 54 goals in the Premier League, the most in the top 10.
Several targets had been looked at, including West Ham ace Declan Rice.
But Silva looks set to become the defender Lampard has craved for – and he will be taking a huge pay cut to join the Blues.
At PSG, the 35-year-old was on €12m-a-year – approximately £220,000-a-week, but according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano he will be earning half of that at Chelsea – £110,000-a-week.
The Brazilian has signed a two-year contract which will keep him in west London until June 2022.
