More misery for Barcelona as Sergio Aguero ‘is expected to be out until NOVEMBER with a calf injury’ as Ronald Koeman prepares to start the new LaLiga season short of options up front after Lionel Messi’s departure
- Sergio Aguero is reportedly out injured until at least November with a calf injury
- The Argentine striker is yet to make his first appearance for the Catalan giants
- Aguero moved to Barcelona on a free earlier this summer from Manchester City
- He was forced to cement his loyalty to the Nou Camp after Lionel Messi’s exit
Barcelona have been dealt another serious blow ahead of the new LaLiga season with reports suggesting Sergio Aguero will be out for 10 weeks with a calf injury.
The Argentine striker moved to the Nou Camp on a free transfer from Manchester City earlier this summer but appears unlikely to make his competitive debut for some time.
According to Spanish radio station RAC1, Aguero could be out until November and was in so much pain on Sunday that he could hardly walk.

Ronald Koeman is now desperately short of attacking options going into Barcelona’s opening LaLiga game of the season against Real Sociedad on Sunday.
It remains to be seen how Aguero picked up the injury, given he is yet to play for the Catalan giants and was an unused substitute in Argentina’s Copa America final win over Brazil on July 11.
Aguero’s absence means Koeman will be without him and Lionel Messi, who left the club in shocking fashion last week after Barcelona could not afford to give the green light to his new contract.
Messi made an emotional farewell in a press conference on Sunday and is now expected to move to Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year deal worth around £70million.
Over the weekend, Aguero was forced to ease fears among Barcelona fans that he will be leaving the club just over two months after joining following the bombshell of Messi’s exit.
Reports from Beteve’s ‘La Porteria’ programme claimed that Aguero had told his lawyers to find a way out of his Barcelona contract, following the departure of his close friend.
Aguero moved to Barcelona on a free transfer from Manchester City at the end of May on a two-year deal, and made no secret that he joined the club ahead of several other European giants because he wanted to play alongside Messi.
But the Argentine striker – who was said to be incensed that Messi has left after he was promised that they would play together – has quickly put to rest any concerns Barcelona supporters may have.

When asked by worried fans – who stopped him while he was driving in a video published on social media by a reporter who covers Barcelona – about his future, Aguero replied: ‘You’ll have me all year long, don’t worry.’
After moving to the Nou Camp earlier this summer, Aguero spoke of his great desire to play alongside the six-time Ballon d’Or winner.
‘Of course I hope to play with Lionel. I know him so well, we’re good friends,’ he said.
‘What happens with Leo is a decision that he and the club will make. It is a pride to play with him. I’ve played with him in the national team.’

He struggled to hold back the tears as he revealed he did not want to leave – but that he would be joining a European rival of the Catalan side so he can keep winning trophies.
