Barcelona want to sell four players in January to raise funds for two new signings

Barcelona chiefs are keen on selling four members of the first-team squad in January, according to reports. Barca are eighth in the La Liga table, nine points behind leaders Real Sociedad, so are in need of a squad refresh in the mid-season transfer window.

Barca allowed a host of senior players to leave the club in the summer.

Luis Suarez moved to Atletico Madrid, Nelson Semedo joined Wolves and Ivan Rakitic signed for Sevilla.

Brazilian midfielder Arthur joined Juventus in a deal that saw Miralem Pjanic head in the opposite direction to the Nou Camp.

Arturo Vidal also left to join Italian giants Inter Milan but Barca are still keen to shift another four players.

Spanish outlet Sport lists Junior Firpo, Samuel Umtiti, Matheus Fernandes and Martin Braithwaite as the quartet who are up for sale.

The report says Barca want to raise funds to make two new signings of their own.

Left-back Firpo is attracting interest from Italy, with Inter and Napoli keen on a potential loan with an option to buy.

The 24-year-old has made just two appearances so far this season, both coming in the Champions League, and Barca want at least £18million for his signature.

Umtiti is close to returning from a knee injury which has prevented him from featuring at all this term.

But Barca boss Ronald Koeman does not have him in his plans and Lyon and Roma are both interested in signing the France international.

Meanwhile, Fernandes is yet to make a first-team appearance for Barca since joining from Brazilian side Palmeiras in January this year.

Sport says Fernandes wants to leave and that there are offers from Spain and Portugal.

Lastly, Barca would like to raise as much money as they can from selling Martin Braithwaite.

The Denmark international joined earlier this year amid an injury crisis at the Nou Camp but has started just four La Liga matches since.

Braithwaite does not want to leave but Barca want to sell him to make room for Memphis Depay.

Koeman wanted to sign Dutch compatriot Depay from Lyon in the summer but did not have the funds available to complete a deal.

Barca will also allow youngsters Riqui Puig and Carles Alena to find loan moves to get more regular first-team action.
