Baffled Jack Grealish blasts "crazy" Covid bans for Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell

Jack Grealish has blasted the decision to make Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell self-isolate as "crazy".

England have been deprived of the duo for 10 days after they came into close contact with Billy Gilmour, who tested positive for Covid in the wake of Scotland's goalless draw at Wembley.

Mount and Chilwell are now training alone at St George's Park and can have no contact with the rest of Gareth Southgate's squad, despite testing negative several times since Friday's game.

The pair will miss England's last 16 clash on Tuesday and might well have kicked their last ball in the tournament.

The FA acted on the advice of Public Health England – but Grealish reckons it is a farce that the Three Lions have more stars isolating than Scotland did have, before Steve Clarke's men exited the Euros.

Grealish said: "Personally, from my point of view, I think it is crazy how we haven't got one positive case in our team and we've got two players isolating – and Scotland have got one positive case and have got one person isolating.

"That baffles me a little bit. But I can't really say too much on it. It is what it is. With what's going on in the world over the past 18 months, we all have to stick to these rules.

"When we do everything around the camp in our hotel, we all do stick to the rules. But it is obviously a loss not having Mase and Chilly.

"I'm sure they will be working hard. I don't know what they are going to be able to do, if they are going to have a treadmill stuck in their room or something next week.

"But I am sure they will be fit for the game next when we get them back. But it does baffle me a little bit the way we've had to have two people isolating."
