The first full season of Arsenal under Mikel Arteta started with an emphatic win against Fulham.
Goals from Alexandre Lacazette, Gabriel and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang helped overcome Scott Parker’s side, and it provided a window into what life will be like under Arteta.
The Spaniard is keen to make further improvements to his squad and as long as the market remains open, he will be trying to foster deals and progress the club.
The talk about Thomas Partey has not quietened, while a move for Houssem Aouar remains the subject of speculation.
Elsewhere, there are other players at the Emirates facing an uncertain future with Arteta needing to be something of a wheeler-dealer in the final weeks of the window.
With that in mind, here are the Arsenal transfer round-up on Tuesday, September 15.
Icelandic goalkeeper set for Arsenal
Runar Alex Runarsson will join Arsenal this week, according to Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano.
The Icelandic stopper is currently plying his trade in France with Dijon and has been identified as the ideal replacement for the departing Emiliano Martinez.
Martinez is on the cusp of joining Aston Villa after the two clubs agreed a fee in the region of £20million for his services.
Arsenal offered the Argentine a new deal which would see his reported £25,000-per-week salary enhanced considerably, but the lack of playing time on offer forced him to look elsewhere.

That leaves a hole in Arteta’s squad in terms of goalkeepers, and he has now identified Runarsson as the ideal replacement.
Asked whether Runarsson would be moving to the Emirates, Romano replied, “Yes. He’ll join Arsenal as Emi Martinez replacement, already reported days ago.”
West Ham prepare £5million bid for Arsenal defender
West Ham are preparing a £5million bid to sign defender Rob Holding on loan from Arsenal, according to The Sun.
The defender joined the Gunners from Bolton in 2016 and has battled through a handful of serious injuries in a bid to establish himself in the first-team.
Still only 24, Holding was expected to join Newcastle United on loan this summer but Arsenal opted to cancel the deal at the 11th hour.
Now the Sun claims the Hammers will sit down with Arsenal in an attempt to agree a temporary deal for Holding. David Moyes suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to the Magpies at the weekend, amid fan unrest at the lack of summer transfer business.
West Ham are hopeful that the lucrative nature of their offers will tempt the Gunners, with the news coming not long after the club saw a £30million bid for Burnley’s James Tarkowski rejected.
Torreira nears the exit door at Arsenal
Lucas Torreira is close to joining Torino from Arsenal after the two clubs agreed a deal, according to the Daily Star.
Torreira joined the club from Sampdoria in 2018 but has struggled to truly establish himself at the Emirates. The Gunners are now eager to boost their transfer budget and see the sale of the Uruguayan as a good way to do that.
The report states that Fiorentina were nearing a loan deal for an initial £7million fee with a £14million obligation to buy next summer, but La Viola have since cooled their interest. That has allowed Torino to swoop in.
The former Pescara midfielder moved to north London in 2018 for a fee of £26million and still has three years to run on his contract.
