Arsenal star installs new home gym – but fans want him sold for peculiar feature

Arsenal fans have been left with mixed feelings after seeing William Saliba’s new home gym.

The Gunners defender, who officially signed for the north Londoners in 2019, has been one of their most important players this season. His importance has been further highlighted by their drop in form since the Frenchman suffered an injury in the Europa League exit to Sporting Lisbon.

But Saliba this week dropped a major hint regarding his future at the club. Pictures emerged on Instagram showing the 22-year-old having installed a new gym at his house in London.

The vast majority of fans were obviously delighted at what they took to mean Saliba was not looking to move away any time soon, despite some concern surrounding his contract expiry in 2024.

Yet others were hugely put off by a framed picture seen over the Frenchman’s shoulder in his gym. Along with a treadmill and a picture of Chicago Bulls’ iconic big three was a picture from the hit BBC show Peaky Blinders, showing Arthur and Tommy Shelby.

And that was enough for some fans to call for the talented centre-back to be axed, with one tweeting: “Get him sold.”

Another user tweeted: “Having peaky blinders posters on your walls holy cringe.”

A third wrote: “Love the bloke but Peaky Blinders fetishisation is a sackable offence,” while a fourth added: “Peaky Blinders in the background is killing me.”

Saliba appears to be out for the rest of the season with manager Mikel Arteta yet to give any real updates surrounding his return. But the Gunners will be thankful that Jakub Kiwior has stepped up in his absence, at first in the win over Chelsea and then Sunday’s away victory at Newcastle.
