Arsenal have their eyes set on at least three more signings to bolster their first-team squad, but there are concerns over whether they have the budget to pull them off.
football.london report that James Maddison is a top target for Arsenal this summer, but they might be off-put by the hefty £60million price tag placed on the Leicester playmaker.
A £60m deal would make Maddison Arsenal’s second most expensive player in history, behind the inconsistent Nicolas Pepe who signed for £72m in 2019.
Maddison had an excellent season in the Premier League with Leicester, registering 8 goals and 5 assists in 2020/21.
Reports suggest he would be open to a move to North London and would present a reliable outlay at £60 million for Arteta and Edu.
Question marks remain over the considerable £50 million splash on Ben White, who is expected to sign for Arsenal once he returns from his post-Euro 2020 holiday.
The deal has been in its final stages for a while, but the unproven White was unable to sign on the dotted line after being involved in the England squad for their historic run to the final of Euro 2020.
After a disappointing season meant Arsenal would miss out on Europe entirely, there is a clamour for new talent to bolster a thinning first-team squad.
Other options in the creative midfield position include Lyon’s Houssem Aouar, who Arsenal were heavily linked with last summer.

Aouar is expected to be available at a cut price this summer, after being touted for over £50 million in the summer of 2020.
In June, it was reported by the Sun that Arsenal might be able to land the 23-year-old Frenchman for under £20 million after Lyon failed to reach the Champions League.
Martin Odegaard, who had spent the second half of the season on loan at Arsenal, could be a target that presents itself later on in the window.
If Odegaard fails to see any first-team action for Real Madrid in the opening stages of the season, Arteta will look to pounce on the Norwegian captain. It is not clear at this stage whether Arsenal will look for a loan or a permanent deal.
High on the list of targets for Arsenal this summer is an experienced midfield player to partner Thomas Partey.
Arsenal have just completed the signing of Belgian youngster Albert Sambi Lokonga, 21, from Anderlecht. Still, the young central midfielder is not seen as a regular for next season as he adjusts to life in England.
Granit Xhaka's departure to Roma is expected to be announced imminently, and there are questions over Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Joe Willock’s futures at the club.
Arsenal will also be in the market for a new right-back, as football.london understands Hector Bellerin would like to leave. Norwich City’s Max Aarons is among the names linked.
