Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a move for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho, with Lucas Torreira edging close to a loan switch to Atletico Madrid.
The Gunners are looking to strengthen in midfield, with Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey and Lyon's Houssem Aouar high heavily linked with the club, and Sky Sports are reporting that Jorginho is also on their radar.
Arteta was Pep Guardiola's assistant at Manchester City when they lost out to Chelsea in the race to sign Jorginho from Napoli and, with the Italian seemingly on the fringes of Frank Lampard's plans, the report claims Arsenal are monitoring him.
Jorginho could end up replacing Lucas Torreira, with the midfielder said to be on the verge of joining Atletico.
Arteta refused to be drawn on speculation about Torreira's future after the Gunners' 2-0 Carabao Cup win over Leicester City.
"I'm not making decisions because players might leave or stay," the Spaniard said. "It's just for the players that we see every day in the best possible condition to compete and win football matches. I cannot discuss any internal matters."

Torreira is one of a number of players who could leave the Emirates this summer, with fellow midfielder Matteo Guendouzi expected to depart having not played for the club since clashing with Brighton striker Neal Maupay back in June.
The likes of Hector Bellerin, Alexandre Lacazette, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Mesut Ozil have all been linked with exits, while winger Reiss Nelson could leave on loan.

Jorginho, meanwhile, came close to joining Juventus earlier this summer to reunite with former boss Maurizio Sarri when he was still in charge at the club, according to Jorginho's agent Joao Santos.
Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb, Santos said: "Yes. Juventus had proposed an exchange with Pjanic to Chelsea which the English club did not take into consideration.
"But Paratici never called me. Would he have gone to Juve with Sarri? I think so."
