Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says interest in Bukayo Saka is “great news”. Liverpool are reported to be keen on signing Saka in the summer. The England international has had another fine season so far with Arsenal.

Saka has six goals and four assists to his name in the Premier League so far this term.

The 20-year-old has not allowed the disappointment of his penalty shootout miss for England in the Euro 2020 final to affect his performances on the pitch.

Saka has two-and-a-half years remaining on his current Arsenal contract.

Arteta was asked about rumours linking clubs with signing the winger at his press conference on Friday.

And he claimed it was only a positive, as it shows how well the player is performing.

“I think that’s great news when you have a lot of talk and people willing for you players, it’s a really good sign,” Arteta said.

“They should be proud because that means they are doing extremely good work.”

Saka was also claimed to be interested in a move to Anfield at some point in his career.

Podcast co-host Ian McGarry said: “We have reported on The Transfer Window Podcast that Liverpool are looking to the future with regards to the fact that they expect to sell at least two of their attacking players.

“Saka is someone who is a player who suits Liverpool’s style.

“Liverpool would provide the opportunity and platform for him to play and compete at the highest level.

“And that would certainly be something that I’m told he and his representatives are very interested in.”

Arteta was asked if the Hale End graduate can now be considered ‘world class’.

But the Spanish manager insisted there is no need to put such labels on him.

“I don’t like to put these labels,” Arteta said.

“I am really happy with Bukayo, and with what he’s doing, with how he’s developed and the importance he has on the team.

“Most importantly with the impact that he’s able to make in each game.

“This is something that we want to keep improving in each game, because he has the capacity to do it.”
