Anthony Martial's wife denies Ole Gunnar Solskjaer injury claims at Man Utd

Anthony Martial’s wife has hit back at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s claim that the forward has been unavailable due to injury ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Tottenham.

The 25-year-old scored in his last appearance for United which was the 1-1 draw with Everton on October 2.

Martial has not been included in United’s last three matchday squads and has also been left out of United’s trip to north London on Saturday.

Earlier this week, Solskjaer indicated that Martial was now in contention to feature following his spell on the sideline.

But Martial’s wife, Melanie, now alleges that the French forward has been fit and available for selection.

When asked by a fan on Instagram if her husband was injured, Melanie replied: ‘Anthony has never been injured. He only had food poisoning two weeks ago.’

In a separate post on Instagram, Melanie also showed a short clip of Martial cycling alongside the caption: ‘Never give up’.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer opted to pick a back five for United’s trip to Tottenham following their 5-0 hammering at home to Liverpool last weekend.

Raphael Varane returned to the side to form a three-man defence alongside Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire.

Speaking ahead of the game, Gary Neville criticised Solskjaer’s tactical approach.

‘It is a little bit last throw of the dice, they’ve been absolutely disgraceful defensively over the last couple weeks,’ said the former United defender.

‘This is one of the most defensive Man Utd teams I think I’ve ever seen.

‘It’s a poor reflection on the more talented players in the squad that he can’t trust them to do work without the ball.’
