Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend has pleaded with the Premier League and the powers that be to ensure the season is completed.
The fate of this season looks set to be decided on Thursday when chiefs meet to discuss whether the season is to be completed at a later date, or declared void.
UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has already indicated that no results would stand should the decision be taken to end the season early.

That is a situation that many clubs and players – including Townsend – are desparate to avoid.
‘One way or another this season has to finish,’ he told talkSPORT. There’s too much riding on it with sponsorship, TV money, players’ contracts and bonuses.
‘The fans have paid season tickets and subscriptions for Sky and BT and those sort of things.
‘So one way or another the season has to finish, whether it’s in May or June, or later in September, October or November.’
Palace have to date enjoyed a good season and are still in with a shout at a European place.

And Towsend admits his desire to get the season done does come partly from a selfish place.
‘Selfishly, Crystal Palace would like the season to finish,’ he added.
‘We’re a couple of points off the European places and we’re safe from relegation, so of course we’d like to finish the season and see how well and how high up the table we can finish it.’
