Andre Wisdom was hospitalised on Monday after being stabbed and robbed during what has been described as an “unprovoked assault” in Liverpool. The Derby County defender is reported to have been attacked while visiting a relative in the Toxteth area of Merseyside.
The Sun report the 27-year-old, who came through the academy ranks at Liverpool, was stabbed while getting out of his car.
His sister told the newspaper: “He’s been stabbed and is in hospital. He’s stable and my other brother is on his way there. It’s crazy. I can’t believe it.”

Wisdom has spent the past three years on the books at Derby after leaving Liverpool on a permanent basis following loan spells with the Rams, West Brom, Norwich and Red Bull Salzburg.
Derby confirmed the incident had taken place and said: “Andre Wisdom has been the victim of an unprovoked assault and robbery. He sustained injuries which resulted in him being admitted to hospital.”
The promotion-chasing Championship side tweeted an image of Leeds-born Wisdom on Monday night, along with the caption: “Get well soon, Wis. (black heart emoji)”
Wisdom played 90 minutes on Saturday as Phillip Cocu’s Derby beat Reading 2-1 behind closed doors at Pride Park.
Derby sit eighth in the Championship, three points adrift of Cardiff, who occupy the final play-offs spot with seven games to go.
A source told The Sun: “It’s awful news. He must have been on a high after his team played so well [against Reading]. To then have something like this happen is just tragic. It was totally unprovoked.
“It’s impossible to imagine what his family must be going through. All his fans wish him a speedy recovery and hopefully he’ll be back on the pitch again soon.”

Wisdom, who started his career at Bradford before being snapped up by Liverpool’s academy, has made 18 Championship appearances so far this season.
Next up for Derby is Wednesday’s showdown with fellow promotion chasers Preston at Deepdale, with a Midlands derby against Nottingham Forest on the cards this Saturday.
Derby then visit Wisdom’s former loan side West Brom, with Brentford the visitors to Pride Park in the following fixture.
Cocu’s men are also set to take on Cardiff, Leeds and Birmingham before the Championship season is due to end on July 22.
Wisdom’s involvement in any of those fixtures is now in doubt following Monday’s attack, news of which prompted an outpouring of support from well wishers from the Pride Park faithful and beyond.
