Spain's Misa Rodriguez was so furious during their Women's Euros defeat to the England she booted a water cooler to vent her anger – but she's not alone.

The back-up goalkeeper felt her side had been hard done by when Ella Toone equalised late on for the Lionesses. She fumed at the officials before going to take a goal kick, but not with a ball.

The poor storage box was the unsuspecting victim of her left foot. Rodriguez showed that with so much on the line, footballers can often lose their head on the bench. On that note, Daily Star Sport is looking at seven other stars who did the same.

Nemanja Matic

Modern day footballers are media trained up to their eyeballs and a major part of that includes never rising to taunts from fans. But the season Manchester United had last time out made that extremely difficult for Nemanja Matic.

The Red Devils were heading for yet another defeat in their miserable campaign against Arsenal in April when Matic was hauled off and given a frosty reception by the Emirates support.

Rather than sit down quietly, the now Roma midfielder bit back. He put up three fingers to symbolise his Premier League titles won with Chelsea, before gesturing that the fan had one a big fat zero – that showed him.

Mario Balotelli

It comes as no surprise that Mario Balotelli features on this list as he is the football king of losing his head. In fairness, he was exposed to extreme circumstances on the final day of the 2011/12 Premier League season.

He and his Manchester City team-mates were watching the title slip from their grasp against QPR. So Joey Barton doing his best impression of Rambo and getting sent off only incensed the Italian more.

Balotelli had to be restrained by City's staff as Barton exited the pitch, telling Dugout in 2017: "I tried to go close to him, but I was on the bench. I wish I had been on the pitch."

Carlos Tevez

Balotelli wasn't the first bench problem City had to deal with in that title-winning season. In September 2011, fellow striker Carlos Tevez gave boss Roberto Mancini a headache by refusing to come on against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Tevez denied ever doing such a thing, but his explanation fell on deaf ears. He was subsequently suspended for two weeks and fined £500,000.

Dele Alli

The career downturn of Dele Alli has been a hard watch for football fans. It looked for a brief moment that the arrival of Jose Mourinho at Tottenham would turn things around for the midfielder.

But he continued to struggle and produced an almighty outburst after being subbed off by the Special One in Spurs' February 2020 Champions League clash with RB Leipzig – as you can see above.

Whole Atletico Madrid squad

On the bench, on the pitch – wherever they were, the whole Atletico Madrid squad simultaneously lost their heads as they were dumped out of Europe's premier competition last season.

Manchester City's streetwise approach to the quarter-final second leg with a 1-0 lead completely rattled the La Liga side. A brawl ensued in the dying embers of the game and continued in the tunnel after the full-time whistle.

Kylian Mbappe

For the most part, PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe comes across as a cool customer both on and off the pitch. But it was his own team-mate who had his head spinning on the bench last September.

He was captured by French TV channel Canal+ complaining about Neymar not passing to him. It was a momentary lapse of judgement from Mbappe, who has since decided to extend his PSG stay.

Fabio Coentrao

None of the players above can say they quite lost their head like former left-back Fabio Coentrao did after conceding a last-minute penalty for Sporting Lisbon.

He was hauled off after being booked for booting the ball away, and then once the spot kick was converted, he unleashed a flurry of punches on the dugout, snapping it apart. Some say he's still looking for his head in Portugal now.
