Former Brisbane Broncos hardman Gorden Tallis was left near speechless on Friday night after a shocking penalty handed the Sydney Roosters a 21-20 win.
The Broncos have been much-maligned all season but looked to have booted their way to a famous victory when Victor Radley was judged to have attacked the legs of Albert Kelly as he went for a game-tying field goal with three minutes remaining.

It gave the Broncos a 20-19 lead with about a set each to play in the game.
But the controversy came from the next set when Roosters skipper James Tedesco called for a captain’s challenge after his prop Sitili Toupounia dropped the ball in the play the ball.
Replays didn't look at the dropped ball however, going back to a high shot that no one had seen as Thomas Flegler came across in defence.
But Bunker official Henry Perenara appeared to be one of the few in the rugby league world who believed it was worth a penalty, with Gorden Tallis fuming over the call in commentary for Triple M.
“Turn my mic off,” he said after the decision. “Oh my god. You are kidding me.
“And not only that, they’re taking him off to get Copley back on. Wow, they’re the masters the Roosters.”

Ben Dobbin added: “This is a disgrace. Rugby League has gone to the pack at different stages.”
But Tallis wasn’t done.
“Does he hit him in the head? He does. Is it the softest penalty of all time? Of course,” he added before booing Keighran as he went to kick the goal.
And he wasn’t the only one fuming.
WHAT A JOKE. That was such a weak penalty. Not the way a game should be decided. Broncos absolutely robbed tonight #NRLBroncosRoosters#NRL
What drama that was. 2nd last on the ladder but @brisbanebroncos always bring their best v @sydneyroosters Tedesco willed his team over the line tonight. Copley excellent. Keighran’s boot immense.#nrlBroncosRoosters
The Broncos deserved a win tonight, it's a shame they didn't get it #NRLBroncosRoosters
RIP Rugby League as we knew it 🙃
Willie Mason tweeted: “Broncos have the right to lose their s*** if he kicks this goal, kevvie is going to go ballistic” while former Bronco Jharal Yow Yeh wrote: “That’s a bulls*** call !!”
Storm and Queensland star Christian Welch also said: “Didn’t think you could go back that far to review? That’s heartbreaking”.
On Fox League, Braith Anasta said it was little more than a “love tap”.
“And because Butcher drops the ball before he plays it we are allowed to be in this position here,” Anasta added.
“I’m OK with that. Perenara didn’t even see the contact that’s how insignificant it is. Can you give a penalty against that? You can’t surely.
“No way that is reportable. That’s a love tap.”
Former Roosters premiership player Cooper Cronk defended the call.
“It was one of the best captain’s challenges we have seen in its history from James Tedesco,” he said.
“The ball was knocked out, it means that it wasn’t a play-the-ball so the play could be challenged. A little controversial, but there was a hit on the beak.
“(Tom) Flegler hit him on the top of the nose and Adam Keighran – who nailed 3/3 leading into that – tough kick, just won the game.”

Tedesco had an incredible match, racking up 222m in another tireless display, while Payne Haas was massive for the Broncos.
Broncos coach Kevin Walters said his side wasn’t robbed by the final call as the rub of the green went against his side.
“That is the way the game goes. Footy can be cruel, it can also be a great game sometimes,” he said.
“I am just really proud of the march forward the club is taking and particularly with the players. I was proud of their effort for 80 minutes.
“Nah I don’t think we were dudded. Referees are there to adjudicate, and they adjudicated it … I’ve got no problems with that one.”
But it also sounds like a coach trying not to get fined.
