The Gold Coast Titans have given the injury hit Sydney Roosters a mighty scare but the defending premiers have come away 18-12 winners at the SCG.
Without the Morris twins, Boyd Cordner, Angus Crichton and Daniel Tupou, it was a weakened Roosters side but the Titans put in another gutsy display.

After the Roosters scored first through a penalty goal, the Titans hit back when Anthony Don scored after it appeared James Tedesco pushed AJ Brimson off the ball only for it to fall at his teammate‘s feet.
NRL Live Scores: Round 12 Match Centre
Soon after Titans centre Brian Kelly was sin binned for tackling Joey Manu without the ball after the Roosters centre dropped the ball following interference from the Titan.
In Fox League commentary, Greg Alexander said it could have been a penalty try before the decision came down that it was a sin bin offence.

Titans coach Justin Holbrook was far from happy with the decision blowing up in the box, and taking aim in the post-match press conference.
“I thought we had enough chances in the first half, we just couldn’t get the try, Phillip Sami held up, AJ dropped it over the line and then we were peppering their line just before halftime and couldn‘t come up with anything,“ Holbrook said. ”When you look back over the full 80 minutes, that’s probably the opportunity that we missed. I thought we were probably the better side in the first half but we were down 10-6.
“Really happy to come up with a try late and give ourselves a chance. Down to 12 men twice, the second one legit, the first one no way.”
Holbrook said Kelly “just touched him” and didn‘t deserve to be a man down.
Titans cop two rough calls
NRL: The Gold Coast Titans were playing well against the Roosters, however in the first half they appeared to cop two tough calls back to back.
Holbrook also shook his head when Tedesco wasn‘t sin binned as the Titans scored through Don, as he pushed Brimson and it was a professional foul but the Roosters avoided further penalty because it was a try.
“Would have been handy not having him on for 10 minutes,” Holbrook said. “That‘s a funny ruling because we scored he doesn’t go to the sin bin but it’s the same thing.”
While he stayed calm in the press conference but we was caught on camera screaming into a walkie talkie before shaking the glass of the coaches box as he threw it down.

The Roosters hit back with a penalty followed by a contentious at best pass from Tedesco to Mitchell Aubusson to score in the corner to benefit from the man-advantage.
The Titans were denied three tries in the first half with the pick of the three coming from Joey Manu where he came from the clouds to flip Phillip Sami on his back.
Coming at the back end of the 10 minute sin bin of the Titans‘ Brian Kelly, Sami looked to score as he cut through the line, with Manu coming from the other side of the field to deny the Gold Coast winger in a miraculous play.
“This is one of the great saves,” Fox League’s Dan Ginnane said.
“Phillip Sami looked for all money like he was going to score,” Greg Alexander added.
“Super. This would be on the highlight reel all week,” Cronk said.
“He comes from the far-right defensive position and rotates Sami over. This was the turning point in the game.”
Manu’s inspiring try-saver
NRL: The Gold Coast Titans were putting some beautiful passages of play together and looked certain to score if not for an amazing effort from Rooster Joey Manu.
Along with an early try that was called back after the referee had called held, as well as Brimson dropping a grubber, it was a frustrating first half for the Titans but the side would be proud of their performance.
Unfortunately for the Titans, the Roosters know what how to win with chip over the top from Luke Keary being caught one handed by Manu, who then beat four tackles to cross the line.
“A try that only Manu could score,” Dan Ginnane said.
“He had no right to score that try,” Alexander added.
The Titans did hit back with five minutes to go as they went wide with Sami ducking under the defence from Tedesco, while Ashley Taylor kicked a sideline conversion.
The visitors did have a chance to send it to Golden Point with a bomb knocked on by the Titans.
It was close but no cigar for the Titans but it was a strong performance from the improving Titans.
