NSW coach Brad Fittler believes relocating a current NRL team is a be a better option than creating an expansion club.
The NRL will meet this month to discuss possible expansion options, despite doubts from Billy Slater than the talent pool is not big enough to support a 17th team.
Fittler told Wide World of Sports radio, that shifting a club like the Titans to Brisbane could be in the best interests of the NRL, rather than stretching the already thin playing stocks.

More Hasler for Manly?
NRL: Manly are looking to keep two-time premiership winning coach Des Hasler at the Sea Eagles until 2024.
“I support that theory. I would move a team,” Fittler said.
Fittler pointed to the lack of a return on the AFL’s massive investment in the Gold Coast Suns as evidence the glitter strip may not be the ideal environment for national sporting teams.
“I noticed the AFL had to put over $20 million into the (Gold Coast) Suns,” Fittler said.

“I’m just not sure that area is equipped to hold a major Australian sporting team. I just feel like three or four games a year in the Gold Coast would be wonderful.
“You can really engage that area, you’ve got so many great young kids that play all the sports up there because the climate is fantastic.
“But I just don’t see it having the steel behind it, that maybe Redcliffe, Ipswich or someone else could maybe bring.
“That’s just my opinion, hopefully Hurricane Holbrook (new Gold Coast coach Justin Holbrook) can do something with the Titans this year and build some support.”

The new Titans coach has been vocal in his support for expansion over relocation.
“I think expansion is a good idea,” Holbrook told AAP.
“I think there’s enough talented players playing rugby league in the country so I think, yeah, I’d be happy with another Brisbane team. I’d be happy with another team in Perth.
“The more the better I think. The game’s growing and we should grow with it.”
