UK braces for Pemblett vs Vargas as UFC returns to London after 3 years away

For the first time in three years, UFC will return to the UK with a huge lineup of fights set to rock the capital.

Liverpool fan favourite Paddy Pimblett is due to make an appearance in the octagon, to the delight of British fans.

At the top of the bill is Volkov vs. Aspinall, a heavyweight battle sure to keep fans on the edge of their seats as both fighters look to move up the pecking order of the top division.

Tom Aspinall, a Brit from Salford, is finally due to take on Russia’s Alexander Volkov despite the fight originally being due to take place in 2020 having been cancelled thanks to Covid-19.

Paddy Pimblett fight record

One of the most exciting British talents in the sport, Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett has a professional fight record of 17 and three, claiming six knockouts and having suffered none.

He will be looking to carry on the momentum from his first UFC outing, where he stopped Brazil's Luigi Vendramini in September 2021.

Kazula Vargas's fight record

Mexican MMA fighter Kazula Vargas has had 16 professional fights, 12 of which he has won.

He started fighting in 2011, joining UFC in 2019 – in his final fight before joining the promotion, he took just 18 seconds to knock out former UFC fighter Mike de la Torre.

When is Volkov vs. Aspinall?

The UFC Fight night event is due to take place on Saturday March 19, 2022.

At the time of writing, Tom Aspinall has a fight record of 13 fights, 11 wins – nine of which are by knockout.

The heavyweight number 11 hasn’t been knocked out and one of his defeats came from disqualification.

Alexander Volkov fight record

Number six ranked heavyweight contender Alexander Volkov has a fight record of 43 fights and 34 wins at the time of writing. 22 of his wins have come from knockout, while he himself has been knocked out twice.

Volkov is believed to have arrived in the UK early over fears that the war in Ukraine could have prevented him from making it to the UK for the fight in time.
