Tyson Fury promises ‘absolutely monstrous fight’ with imminent date

Tyson Fury has revealed that he will be back between the ropes very soon in a ‘monstrous fight’. The Gypsy King claims that there is an ‘imminent fight date’ involving himself and a high-quality operator being announced in the coming days.

Taking to Instagram, he said: “So, I’ve got some massive massive news, an imminent fight date, an absolutely monstrous fight. Keep tuned because the WBC world heavyweight king is back in action very very soon. Peace out.”

This comes after Fury and Oleksandr Usyk were unable to come to terms over their proposed undisputed heavyweight title. The four-belt shootout was expected to take place in April.

However, negotiations fell apart due to the proposed purse split for the rematch. According to reports, Usyk asked that the agreed 70-30 purse split in Fury’s favour for the inaugural contest be reversed if he won.

Meanwhile, Fury wanted a 50-50 split if he was to lose their first bout. With most of the terms already in place fans will be hopeful that Fury vs Usyk is the Mancunian’s imminent fight.

But this is boxing and we don’t often get what we want. Another potential fight for Fury is a fourth bout with Deontay Wilder. The Bronze Bomber is now a free agent and has been in deep discussions with Saudi boxing promoters Skills Challenge Entertainment, who also have a good working relationship with Fury.

There have been rumours that Saudi Arabia are planning a four-man heavyweight tournament involving Fury, Usyk, Wilder and Anthony Joshua although the head of Saudi boxing Amer Abdallah recently confirmed that there haven’t been any concrete plans put in place.

Speaking to Boxing King Media, Abdallah said: “There hasn’t been anything official as of yet… Unless something comes out from Skills Challenge Entertainment then everything is just potential fights that could be made. Are we talking with Anthony Joshua and Eddie Hearn, of course, we are. Are we talking with Deontay, of course, we are, Tyson, Usyk. I will say there isn’t a tournament in place, but are those fights in play, of course, they are.”
