Jake Paul makes offer to next opponent as Tommy Fury looks set to miss out

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr has claimed he has been offered up to $3million to fight Jake Paul.

Paul is currently taking a break following his KO win over Tyron Woodley in their rematch last weekend.

But he made it clear to his management team that he was interested in fighting the Mexican son-of-a-legned.

And Chavez Jr is willing to face the YouTube star next year – if the deal is right.

"Jake Paul and his people contacted me regarding a fight with Paul," he told Fight News. "I said yes, but then again Lupe Valencia, who is with Paul now and used to be with me a few years back said they offered me one to three million dollars plus PPV.

"When it’s a fight that can sell millions and can break records because he is popular and I have a name, I’m a former world champion, so I made it clear that it has to be a 50/50 split for me to take the fight.

Should Jake Paul and Tommy Fury reschedule? Have your say in the comments below.

“Take into consideration that I have to go all the way up to 190 pounds, Jake Paul is a big guy and weight matters, so it’s a risk. Their people may want to see me lose and take advantages, but he doesn’t know how to box, I know I can knock him out."

Chavez Jr reigned as middleweight world champion until he was beaten by Sergio Martinez in 2012.

He was never able to regain his standing and has lost three of his last five fights, including to UFC legend Anderson Silva.

The 35-year-old would still represent the toughest test of Paul's short ring career.

And he added: "I just want to be treated fairly. What I bring to the table and my name, I have 61 fights already and yes I haven’t looked the same in my last two fights, but I fought with serious injuries in my body.

"I’m feeling better little by little and if the Paul fight happens, I will be very well prepared to win. I will not lose."

Should Paul fight Chavez Jr, it would almost certainly spell the end of Tommy Fury's hopes of taking on the social media star.

Fury had been poised to take on Paul last weekend but was forced to pull out with a fractured rib.

He has also been suffering from a serious chest infection and was replaced by Woodley at two weeks' notice.

Fury hopes the fight can be rescheduled but Paul said earlier this week that he was ready to move on.

"Most likely not Tommy. I kind of want someone with a bigger name,” Paul told USA Today. "We’ll see how all the stars align, but I’m tired of carrying all these pay-per-view buys by myself.”
