Boxer chokes up and bursts into tears in Sky Sports interview after win

Offbeat news from the world of sport

Boxer Jimmy Lee choked up in an emotional post-fight interview after he beat Ricky Starkey on Saturday evening.

Lee recorded the first stoppage in his professional career after he unloaded a flurry of shots toward his opponent in the third. And he was so happy with his victory, the youngster burst into tears during his interview with Sky Sports after the bout.

He said, fighting back the tears: "First of all, I want to say thank you to everybody that came out here tonight. I'm choked up. I'm made for this game, and anybody who wants it, can have it!"

One fan said: "Fair play to him raw emotion! Only he knows how hard the journey has been!"

However, others weren't as sympathetic: "This man beat a dude that was 2-24 lol why is he acting like he just won a world title." And another joked: "Wow the memes that will be made off this!"

"Got to be the worst post-fight interview ever that," a fourth added after seeing the video.

With just over thirty seconds left of the third round, the Super-Flyweight caught his opponent with a right hook, which caused him to wobble.

Lee sensed blood, and he unloaded a flurry of punches that forced Starkey into the corner.

And the referee was quick to wave off the fight as Starkey struggled to defend himself.
