NBA also shelves Pelicans-Kings game ‘out of an abundance of caution’

Just an hour after the NBA announced it was shutting down after Wednesday night's slate of games was finished, another game was shelved.

A Utah Jazz player tested preliminarily positive for the coronavirus minutes before tip-off with the Oklahoma City Thunder, prompting the NBA to postpone that game. That  player was center Rudy Gobert, a person with knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports. The person was granted anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the situation.

About an hour after that announcement, the New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings game – the final tip-off of the night – was canceled in Sacramento "out of an abundance of caution," the NBA said.
