Hot lap dancer got her kit off at The Open and planted a kiss on Tiger Woods

Offbeat news from the world of sport

A hot lap dancer once got her kit off and planted Tiger Woods with a kiss at The Open.

Yvonne Robb – a lap dancer – was watched by 100 million TV viewers when she was just 21 years old and accosted the American golfer at the 18th green in Carnoustie in 1999, giving him a big kiss without much on at all.

A stunned Woods could not believe his eyes as the blonde came over to him, wearing only skimpy black undies. After she gave him a kiss, the golfing legend gave a smile and said ‘thank you’. After succeeding in her task of getting ahold of Woods, Robb gave a little dance celebration before being led away from the pitch by officials.

Robb said the day after: "I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Tiger will accept the invitation to see me dance. If he thought last year was good, then he'll get his eyes really opened this time. He'll get the full monty this year, I promise! It was the best kiss I ever had. It was worth it. I just love Tiger. I'll have to surprise you all again next year."

At the time, the boss of her dancing establishment – Private Eyes in Aberdeen – Tony Cochrane quipped: "Short of locking Yvonne up, there's not much we can do!

"We had no idea she was even going to the Open at Carnoustie last year and the first we knew was when we saw her in all the papers. We were due to open at the Marquee nightclub in Dundee in a few weeks time, but we brought our opening forward, just for the Open.

"We have sent an invitation to Tiger Woods which will be waiting for him when he arrives. Yvonne will be dancing in Dundee and we are hoping he'll take up our offer.

The whole bizarre affair happened during the first round of the Open Championships at Carnoustie in Scotland, when Woods was on a birdie putt. Woods was not the huge star that he is today, with just one single Major to his name. But he was more than glad with the confidence boost coming from Robb.
