Families of 9/11 victims to protest against LIV Golf at Donald Trump’s course

The families of 9/11 victims are ready to protest against LIV Golf players at the Saudi-backed tournament held at Donald Trump’s Bedminster course.

Trump’s New Jersey-based course will see a 48-man field tee-off in the latest £20million 54-holer on Friday. At the same time, dozens of relatives of those killed in the terrorist attacks will attend a press conference next to the course as play gets underway.

There, the furious families will address the media while taking aim at both former president Trump and the golfers who they deem to be helping the Saudi state’s latest attempt at ‘sports-washing’.

Chair of 9/11 Families United Terry Strada will lead the charge, having slammed LIV new-boy Henrik Stenson in an interview with The Telegraph after the 46-year-old sacrificed his Europe Ryder Cup captaincy last week to join the controversial series in a £40million deal.

Strada said: “Henrik Stenson will now be remembered as just another exhibition golfer to be exploited by the kingdom to do its dirty work and try to clean up their image as being the country that unleashed extremism on the world, resulting in the murder of nearly 3,000 innocent people on American soil on Sept 11, 2001.”

Meanwhile, founder of the 9/11 Justice group Brett Eagleson has told The Times that LIV golf stars including Stenson will be invited to meet with the families in order to hear their complaints.

Eagleson said: “These golfers have no courage. Our message to these golfers is clear: allow us to educate you, allow us to show you the FBI evidence which now concludes (Saudi) kingdom officials were behind the plot to kill our loved ones.

“After that, if you choose to take the money then that’s between you and your maker.”
