Eddie Hall loses six stone in two months despite taking on 7,000 calorie diet

Eddie Hall, the 2017 winner of the World’s Strongest Man, has opened up on his dramatic weight loss after shedding six stone in just two months.

When he won the crown in 2017 he weighed a colossal 30 stone, but he now tips the scales at around 24st.

Hall, who has been named the UK’s strongest man six years in a row, broke the deadlift world record by lifting 500kg – beating his previous record by nearly 50kg.

But that lift made him pass out, and just a year late he announced his retirement from World’s Strongest Man competition after winning the 2017 title.

He now focuses on lower-weight competitions, and is in training for a boxing match against Hafthor Bjornsson – who won the WSM title in 2018.

And Hall explained that a large portion of his weight loss was down to his boxing training, as he explained the difference between the two programmes.

He said: "Boxing is a whole new ballgame for me and requires a different kind of fitness and endurance to strongman.

"My schedule is pretty hectic with fitting in hours of training, six meals a day, business meetings and family time."

He also had a change in his diet recently, and explained that had a direct impact on his weight loss.

Hall added: “Because of my size and the intensity of my training programme, I have to eat a lot.

"It's not only time consuming to eat so much, but it also takes a lot of forward planning, consistency, and effort.”

Hall’s diet when he was taking part in WSM competitions saw him consume 12,000 calories per day, but that has been reduced to 7,000 due to the change in sports.

Now, Hall consumes foods such as chicken, vegetables, granola and coleslaw.

Hall’s daily regime, according to the Stoke Sentinel :

  • 7.30am: One apple before morning power walk
  • Breakfast: Steak and scrambled eggs (five eggs), one glass of orange juice
  • Mid-morning: Whey protein shake
  • Lunch: Two large pieces of chicken, rice, mixed vegetables and half a glass of orange juice
  • Mid-afternoon: Chocolate granola or punnet of strawberries with Manuka honey
  • 6pm meal: Homemade chicken curry, rice and vegetables (carrots, peas and sweetcorn)
  • Dinner (8.30pm): Large portion of air-fried chicken, two baked potatoes, asparagus, coleslaw, peppers cooked in butter and half a bottle of mayonnaise
  • Evening snacks: Yoghurt, nuts, honey, fruit
  • Weight Loss
  • Boxing
