Face masks are currently in high demand following the coronavirus outbreak as Brits have been told to wear them when they use public transport or visit shops. The public has also been advised to cycle to work if that option is available and only use trains as well as buses if they do not have any other means of transportation.
Among the most popular options are cycling masks, which cyclists use to prevent them from breathing in pollution in heavy traffic.
It is understood that scientists believe this sort of protective gear won’t help the public avoid catching COVID-19 but it will stop them from spreading it to others.
Cycling masks are available online via eBay and Amazon and there are still some shops with stock left, however most retailers have run out.
Delivery dates, though, need to be double checked as some shipments may be delayed due to the coronavirus crisis.
Express Sport take you through three types of cycling masks you could wear:
Respro ultralight mask
The Respro ultralight mask would come in handy during the current hot temperatures that may continue throughout the upcoming summer as it allows the face to breathe during high and humid conditions.
It is also said to be easy to wear as it comes in different sizes with exhale valves and a nose clip that keeps it snug to the face.
The exhale valves in particular give this mask an edge as it improves airflow performance and makes breathing a lot easier.

The Totobobo anti-pollution mask is considered the lightest reusable respiratory mask anyone could find.
It can also be easily modified to fit the exact size of one’s face which makes it very comfortable to wear while cycling down the streets of London.
The transparent plastic design also gives it an edge to those that wish to stand out as most face masks are of a dark colour.

Cambridge Mask the admiral
Cambridge Mask is “military grade” product that uses carbon cloth invented by the Ministry of Defence to protect against smells and particulates.
Its adjustable drawstring strap makes it easy to fit around the face which means it is very difficult for the gear to slip while cycling.
The brand’s masks come in various different colours and patterns but they are considered to be just as effective.
